Liberty University

Liberty University

Liberty University (LU) was founded by Dr. Jerry Falwell, Sr. in 1971 with the mission to promote the intellectual and spiritual development of its students. Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, LU serves 12,000 students on campus and an additional 37,000 through distance learning. To that end, the combination of on campus and online students makes LU the largest evangelical university in the world.

LU can accommodate any student's needs and offers more than 40 accredited online programs and 90 specialized programs. Students enrolled at Liberty can choose between taking classes on campus, online or hybrid programs that allow students to complete courses online and on campus.

To develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow's world. The mission is carried out for resident students through a rigorous academic program and structured social environment. It is carried out for external students in a comparable academic program but without the structure of the resident community.
