Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice online degree from Dominican College with a specialization in Legal Studies is designed to provide students with an understanding of legal considerations within the three areas of the criminal justice system: police, courts and corrections. While in the program, students will learn valuable tools and skills such as critical reasoning, research methods and writing proficiency, which are useful for students seeking a career in law. Those same skills and tools are also useful for pursuing other professional careers within the criminal justice field.
Students will complete the 48-credit hour criminal justice requirements and the general education curriculum in accelerated eight-week sessions. The criminal justice curriculum is divided into three categories: a 21-credit core, 15-credit legal sequence and 12-credit related area. The program’s core exposes students to the stages of the criminal justice system and provides major foundational support for more sophisticated coursework within the major, such as the courses focused on police, citizen and the community, juvenile justice as well as research methods in criminal justice. Students take the capstone senior seminar in the last semester, which is the culmination of the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice program.
