MBA Program Highlights: The MBA and Financial Planning courses are offered year round in five 8-week terms. For busy professionals seeking to advance their careers through the acquisition of knowledge, a credential or degree, the online program is ideal in terms of convenience and scheduling flexibility. Courses typically consist of no more than 20 students to allow for close interaction with faculty. The accelerated format of the program allows a student to complete the program in less than two years if desired.

Program Description

Curricula and rigorous coursework reflect a multidisciplinary approach to this specialized MBA that prepares students to serve their future clients by integrating formal education, research and analysis, with experience and ethics. Challenging courses focus on students' personal and professional long-term success, and give students the key advantage of preparation for the CFP® Certification Examination.

The MBA in Financial Planning Degree requires students to attend a program comprised of 16 courses totaling 48 credit units: eight general MBA courses and eight financial planning courses including curricula on insurance, investments, estate and retirement planning and a final capstone course to name a few.

Upon successful completion of this curriculum, and in recognition of your achievement in completing your MBA, California Lutheran University will invite you to participate in a commencement ceremony on the CLU campus in Thousand Oaks, California.

Online Learning at California Lutheran University

CLU online courses are taught using a state-of-the-art program called Wimba Live Classroom which is specifically designed for instructors and students to interact in a virtual setting, display PowerPoint presentations and videos, participate in discussion boards and even write on a whiteboard. Additionally, students have the option to review live and archived classroom discussions, webinars and presentations specifically geared toward the field of finance. Virtual student lounges are available to all students in the financial planning program to which students can meet to discuss assignments, form study groups, tutoring services or develop assigned group projects.

California Lutheran University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is ranked a "Top 20 School in the West" by U.S. News. The Financial Planning program at California Lutheran University is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (the CFP Board). As a CFP Board-Registered Program, our courses satisfy CFP Board's initial education requirement, allowing an individual to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.
